2K Support posted back on October 20th that online features for NBA 2K21 will be shutting down at the end of 2022 and then beginning of 2023 the game will no longer be available to purchase digitally.

The time has come to let you know that NBA 2K21’s servers will be discontinued as of December 31, 2022. Players will no longer be able to play ranked or online league games. Accordingly, any mode that earns or uses VC will be affected, along with any other online function (such as the MyTEAM mode and online matches against other players).

As of January 1, 2023 this game will no longer be available for purchase. Players who already own it will still be able to redownload and play offline modes, of course.

Hello Everyone Artist,Gamers It me FlouryJarl081ss so Today it October 20th,2022 This is 6th Year later of The First Horizon Taking Place In North America in Colorado during 2012-2013 Horizon Festival Event So Let’s Start The Background.

Background: Forza Horizon is a 2012 racing video game developed by Playground Gamesand published by Microsoft Studios for the Xbox 360 on 23 October 2012. The game is the fifth instalment of the Forza Series, having originally spun-off from Turn 10 Studios' Forza Motorsportseries.Taking place during the fictitious Horizon Festival, a street racing event set in the state of Colorado, the aim is to progress via winning races, while also increasing the popularity level by performing stunts. Players can drive off-road in select areas while others are limited by guardrails or other means.

Forza Horizon was released to critical acclaim and has since spawned its own series, with four additional sequels to date: Forza Horizon 2 in 2014, Forza Horizon 3 in 2016, Forza Horizon 4 in 2018, and Forza Horizon 5 in 2021.

Gameplay: Forza Horizon focuses specifically on casual street racing, rather than professionally on race tracks, as it takes place on a map of temporarily closed public roads. It features multiple types of races, from drift to rally and point-to-point races. The roads feature both AI traffic and when playing online, other festival drivers.[2] Players may challenge the other racers they encounter in a one-on-one race to a given location. The races start at the current location, and finish at a randomly generated way-point, usually more than 500 metres away from the player and their opponent. A skill system is implemented in the game; players earn popularity during races by driving aggressively. Acts such as drifting, jumping over obstacles and getting a car on two wheels all contribute to the player's popularity level. These can be chained together in a combo, which in turn affects the money players are paid at the end of a given race.[3] As a player's popularity level increases new special events are unlocked, such as races against helicopters and planes.[3]

In an interview with Turn 10's creative director Dan Greenawalt, he stated the game was developed in close relation to real music festivals—namely Coachella—and that he envisioned a more relaxed game-play experience than other games in the Forza series, while keeping a more realistic handling style. Being the main theme of the game, a large focus of the game is on the festival itself and activities surrounding it, rather than just racing.[4]

Speed traps are present in the game, and players can challenge each other for the top speed in a given area. Cameras record player times, which can then be shared among rivals. Those rivals can then attempt to beat the shared time.[3] A photography mode is also included. In addition to races, the map is scattered with barn find cars, rare classical vehicles that can be restored and added to the players garage.[5][6]

Other aspects of game-play include an auto-show, in which the player can buy or sell cars; a garage, in which the player can manually or automatically upgrade their cars, and a paint shop, in which players can create custom paints, liveries, and paint presets for their vehicles. When free-roaming, the player may encounter discount signs which, when smashed, give a price reduction on all upgrades from that point forwards.[7][5][8][9]Forza Horizon was developed by UK-based Playground Games, which is composed of employees who formerly worked at various studios renowned for earlier racing titles and series such as Project Gotham RacingDriverColin McRae: DirtColin McRae RallyRace Driver: Grid and Burnout.[10] When asked about Playground Games' involvement, Dan Greenawalt said, "I wouldn't trust this partner as much as I do if I didn't expect them to surprise me and surprise our players. I have respect for their ability to come up with great ideas. So I think yes, they are challenged by the customers the same way we are to surprise them with innovation. That's how they see themselves, that's how we see them, it's how they see us. It's really a shared goal."[11]

Of course it's a risk, [...] but some of the best racing games in the last twenty years have come out of the UK racing game development studios.
— Dan Greenawalt, head of Turn 10 Studios on collaborating with the UK-based Playground Games.[12]

Though Forza Horizon is in the hands of an outside developer, Dan Greenawalt believes such risks are needed to meet the vision for the franchise.[12]

Development of the environment began with research on almost 30 real-world locations. After initial research, creative director Ralph Fulton stated that there was "one clear winner", ColoradoUSA.[13] Trips were made to the state to take footage and over 50,000 still photos for reference. The goal, stated Fulton, was to "build our own take on Colorado".[13]Initial world design began with a 2D layout which then evolved into multiple areas created with 3D models. The game features several types of landscape including snow-covered mountain roads, plains, foothills, and an area inspired by Colorado's Red Rocks Park; all are featured in a fictitious form alongside the game's Horizon festival location. The developers stated that finding ways to transition between these areas was one of the greatest challenges.[13] Flora and fauna are also visible in the game for increased realism and depth.[13]A partial reveal of the vehicle list began on Forza's Twitter and Facebook pages on 23 August 2012.[14][15] The list includes a 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge, a 2012 Hennessey Venom GT, and a Lamborghini Countach LP500 QV, among many others.[16] A season pass was confirmed for future downloadable content (DLC) on 25 September 2012. It allows players to download the first six car packs, consisting of six cars each, gives players five exclusive cars, and will grant access to the game's rally racing expansion pack slated for 18 December 2012 release.[16][17] Vehicle selections vary between monthly instalments, and each vehicle can be purchased individually if players so choose. These vehicles include the Lamborghini Aventador JGumpert Apollo Enraged, Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Halo Edition and the 1993 McLaren F1Unicorn cars — cars that are rare and unobtainable through conventional means — can be given to players by the developer for community involvement in both in and out-of-game situations and events.

The 1000 Club was released on 16 April 2013, as a free DLC pack in the Xbox Marketplace. It was designed to extend the gameplay of Forza Horizon by adding new achievements and in-game medals. It includes two free cars, the Ruf CTR2 and the Ford F100. With the 1000 Club, each car in the game has about five or six in-game achievements that can be unlocked. By completing some of these achievements, players can unlock Xbox achievements.[18][19]

Forza Horizon was rated a 12 by PEGIand T by the ESRB; it is the only game in the Forza franchise to ever receive these ratings.[20]Forza Horizon was delisted on Xbox 360 on October 20th, 2016.Turn 10’s Brian Ekberg confirmed the details in a post on the Forza Motorsport blog on September 23rd:

“On October 20, the original Forza Horizon for Xbox 360 will reach “End of Life” status. That means that the game and its associated DLC will no longer be available for purchase. Players who own Forza Horizon before that date will still be able to download and play the game and its associated content as normal. After that date, however, Forza Horizon and its associated DLC will no longer be for sale.”

Shortly before the news, Forza Horizon was included in the Games with Gold program and was available to all Xbox Live Gold members from September 1st through the 15th. Anyone who grabbed the game through mid-September or purchased it previously can still re-download it through their Purchase Historypage.

The reason was not stated but the delisting is most certainly due to licensing. Nearly 60 different manufacturers are featured in the game and 62 artists appear on the soundtrack. Renegotiating new terms with two sequels ahead of it was likely not a priority for Turn 10 or Microsoft.

In March of 2018, Microsoft released an update for the game under the Enhanced for Xbox One X program, allowing the game to run under 4K resolution on supported consoles.[25]However, on 30 April 2022, the game was unexpectedly relisted on the Xbox Games Store for a few hours before being delisted again, although the DLC was not relisted during this time. So That is It For all Before You Go I have good news is the 10 year anniversary of the horizon many of devloper the history Of Any Horizon Games That Got delisted so peace and goodbye.

Killer Queen Black has turned out to be another casualty of GameSparks recent shutdown. The team at Liquid Bit announced the news on October 4th and removed the game from sale on Xbox One and Steam on October 6th. As of this post the game was still available on Nintendo Switch but will likely disappear soon. The game was also released on Google Stadia.

Although the game is being removed from sale, existing owners will have until November 30th to play online before being relegated to its offline modes. There’s also hope that the team may one day release the game as open source software allowing fans to patch in their own online connectivity.

It’s with a heavy heart that we’re announcing that after three amazing years, KQB will be going offline on November 30’th, 2022.

This is not something that was planned or foreseen. KQB was built on top of Amazon GameSparks, the service that provides the backend functionality for our game. Unfortunately, Amazon decided to shut down this service on September 30’th. We moved mountains and spent a treasure to migrate to a different provider, but unfortunately, the task amounted to an almost complete rewrite of the game, and that’s just not in the cards for Liquid Bit at this time. We’re working on plans to open-source the game, and hopefully, with some luck and support, it will rise again in the future.

We know that this comes as a shock and disappointment to many of you that have spent so much time and energy playing our game and making the community the great place that it is. We can assure you that we are just as disappointed as you are.

Please know that we did everything possible to keep the online component alive – unfortunately, it was just out of our capability as an indie developer. We did, however, secure a two-month extension from Amazon to use the service until November 30’th so our league play could conclude uninterrupted.

Liquid Bit is marching on, and we’re continuing to build out our new title, which we hope to share very soon. Rest assured, we will make sure issues of this nature are not able to thwart our production or shut down our future online games again.

It’s been a wild run and I am grateful for everyone’s support. Thank you.

—Matt Tesch an Founder CEO of Liquid Bit

Google’s bid for the always-connected, streaming future of gaming will come to an end on January 18th, 2023 with the closure of the Stadia service. Phil Harrison, Vice President and General Manager of Stadia posted the news earlier today on the Google blog.

For many years, Google has invested across multiple aspects of the gaming industry. We help developers build and distribute gaming apps on Google Play and Google Play Games. Gaming creators are reaching audiences around the world on YouTube through videos, live streaming and Shorts. And our cloud streaming technology delivers immersive gameplay at massive scale. A few years ago, we also launched a consumer gaming service, Stadia. And while Stadia’s approach to streaming games for consumers was built on a strong technology foundation, it hasn’t gained the traction with users that we expected so we’ve made the difficult decision to begin winding down our Stadia streaming service. We’re grateful to the dedicated Stadia players that have been with us from the start. We will be refunding all Stadia hardware purchases made through the Google Store, and all game and add-on content purchases made through the Stadia store. Players will continue to have access to their games library and play through January 18, 2023 so they can complete final play sessions. We expect to have the majority of refunds completed by mid-January, 2023. We have more details for players on this process on our Help Center. The underlying technology platform that powers Stadia has been proven at scale and transcends gaming. We see clear opportunities to apply this technology across other parts of Google like YouTube, Google Play, and our Augmented Reality (AR) efforts — as well as make it available to our industry partners, which aligns with where we see the future of gaming headed. We remain deeply committed to gaming, and we will continue to invest in new tools, technologies and platforms that power the success of developers, industry partners, cloud customers and creators. For the Stadia team, building and supporting Stadia from the ground up has been fueled by the same passion for games that our players have. Many of the Stadia team members will be carrying this work forward in other parts of the company. We’re so grateful for the groundbreaking work of the team and we look forward to continuing to have an impact across gaming and other industries using the foundational Stadia streaming technology. Phil Harrison, Vice President and General Manager of Stadia – September 29, 2022

Already the Stadia homepage has been updated to remove access to the service’s library of titles and in-game purchases. The accompanying Help Center page answers a few more questions, with more details promised in the future but here are some of the most relevant ones:

Q: Will all games work as expected during this time?

A: We anticipate that there will be some gameplay issues during this period, especially any games requiring commerce, but the majority of games should continue to work normally.

Q: What about my game progress? Can I take my game progress to another platform?

A: While that may be possible for some games that support cross-progression play on other platforms, unfortunately, for the majority of games, that won’t be possible.

Q: Will I get a refund? What is available for a refund?

A: We will be offering refunds for all Stadia hardware purchases (Stadia Controller, Founders Edition, Premiere Edition, and Play and Watch with Google TV packages) made through the Google Store and software transactions (games and add-on purchases) through the Stadia store. Stadia Pro subscriptions are not eligible for refund, however you will be able to continue playing your games in Pro without further charges until the final wind down date.

Q: Why can I no longer purchase games? Can I purchase in-game transactions?

A: We have now closed the Stadia Store and disabled all commerce on the Stadia platform, including in-game transactions.

It’s an honorable make-good to see refunds automatically offered to anyone who purchased Stadia hardware over the last three years. But a closure is still a closure and that means nearly 300 titles will soon become inaccessible including five games that never made it off of the platform. Thankfully the nine other exclusives only debuted early on Stadia or have since made the jump to PC and consoles.

Although the Stadia store has shut down, direct links to each game still allow you to launch and play them for 30 to 60 minutes. Below is a handy list from the Stadia subreddit for anyone interested in these ethereal offerings. Hopefully they turn up on other platforms in 2023.

Current Stadia Exclusives

  • Hello Engineer – 30 min
  • PixelJunk Raiders – 60 min
  • Outcasters – 60 min
  • PAC-MAN Mega Tunnel Battle – 60 min
  • GYLT – Stadia Pro subscription required
  • Wavetale – Stadia Pro subscription required (TBA on other platforms at the moment)

Former Stadia Exclusives

  • Submerged: Hidden Depths
  • Super Bomberman R Online
  • Gunsport
  • Orcs Must Die! 3
  • Crayta
  • Wave Break
  • Get Packed
  • Lost Words

2016 racing video game developed by Playground Gamesand published by Microsoft Studios for the Xbox One and Windows. It is the ninth instalment in the Forza series and the third instalment in its spinoff Forza Horizon. The game is set in a fictionalised Australia, where the player is the leader of the titular Horizon car festival and has to expand the festival by completing events to earn fans. Like previous Forza Horizon games, it features an open worldenvironment where players can freely roam the map.

Forza Horizon 3 began development in 2014 after the release of Forza Horizon 2. Turn 10 Studios assisted with the game's development, as they did with other Forza Horizon games. Over the course of development, Playground Games tested different technological concepts for the game, while also trying to improve more features over the previous title. The Australian setting was chosen for its variety of regions, and a team was sent to Australia to conduct research for the game.

Forza Horizon 3 was released in September of 2016. At release, critics praised the map

design, graphics, and amount of content, while most criticism was directed towards the monotony of races. The game won and was nominated for multiple awards and sold over 2.5 million copies in 2017. Downloadable content had also been released periodically, including two expansion packs. The game was followed by Forza Horizon 4, released in 2018.

Gameplay: Forza Horizon 3 is a racing video game set in an open world environment based in a fictional representation of Australia.[1] The gameplay world is about twice the size of Forza Horizon 2,[2] and the game contains locales and regions based upon their real-life Australian counterparts.[3][4] While previous Forza Horizon games have depicted the player as being one of the racers of the Horizon Festival, the player is now the director of the festival, and their role is to expand it throughout Australia by completing races, challenges, and stunts to earn fans.[2][5] If enough fans are earned at a certain threshold, the player can set up new festival locations and unlock more events.[6]

Three types of racing modes are available in the game: Exhibition, Championship, and Rivals. Exhibition is a single race at one location, whereas Championship contains multiple races dispersed throughout the gameplay world. Rivals is a versus race against the player and an AI opponent, where the player has to compete in a time trial to beat the time set by the

opponent.[7] Added in Forza Horizon 2, the player can also participate in Bucket List Challenges, where they are given a task to complete with a specific vehicle.[8] The newly introduced Horizon Blueprint feature lets the player customise races and Bucket List Challenges.[2]

Apart from races and Bucket List Challenges, the player can engage in several other activities. Breakable boards called "bonus boards" can be discovered around the gameplay world, and when driven over, they award the player with experience points or a discount on fast travelling.[8][9] As the player progresses through the game, they can receive rumours of bard finds to uncover and restore.[10] When performing stunts with a vehicle, the player is awarded "skill points". If enough skill points are acquired, they can be used to purchase perks that may award cars, experience points, in-game currency, and driving advantages, among other benefits.[5][11] The player may participate in Forzathon competitions, which provide weekly challenges and give awards once completed.[12]

Returning from previous Forza games, Forza Horizon 3 features a vehicle AI called Drivatars, which learns and mimics the driving abilities of Forza players.[13] Drivatars are found throughout the gameplay world,[14] and they appear in races as opponents, where they can be adjusted by game difficulty via the player.[8] Apart from standard races, Drivatars can be challenged to a head-to-head race. If the player wins the race, they will be able to recruit

that Drivatar onto their racing team,[14] which allows the player to earn additional experience points, fans, and in-game currency.[5] The player can also recruit Drivatars in a car convoy. When in a car convoy, Drivatars will follow the player, and they can be upgraded by skill points to perform certain tasks throughout the game.[15]

The player can upgrade and tune individual parts of their vehicles, with body kits being available as well.[16][17] Additionally, the game includes a vehicle cutsomisation option called "Upgrade Heroes", which utilizes both tuning and body kits to alter both a vehicle's performance and appearance, although the cutomisation preset is limited to a certain number of vehicles.[18] The colour of vehicles and their collective parts can changed, and the player can also design liveries for vehicles.[16] These liveries can be sold through the in-game shop, which further includes an auction system to bid on cars from other players.[2][19] A total of 350 vehicles were available at the game's launch.[2]

Forza Horizon 3 offers open world multiplayer modes including an online cooperative mode for up to four players and a competitive mode for up to twelve, where players can compete in races and minigames with their vehicles.[5][15] As from previous Forza games, the player can join clubs, where they have the ability to compete against players of other clubs in races and minigames.[15]

previous Forza Horizon titles. Additional work was provided by Turn 10 Studios, who made the Forza Motorsport series.[20] The game was designed using the ForzaTechgame engine, which is used for most other Forza games.[21] The development team started conceptualizing the creation of Forza Horizon 3 in 2014 initially after Forza Horizon 2 was released.[22] The team desired to give players more freedom in Forza Horizon 3 compared to its predecessor.[23] They also aimed for the game to be of better quality, therefore they sought to optimise more gameplay and graphical aspects over the previous title.[22][24] One of these changes was minimizing the amount of loading screen time, as it could damage the game's impression of being persistently high quality.[24] Creative director Ralph Fulton felt that Forza Horizon 3 was a "generational leap" over its predecessor because of the work the development team put in to better improve the game.[22]Playground Games started with a broad range of locations for Forza Horizon 3, narrowing the list of locations with more research.[22] Because of Australia's largely diverse environment, the

development team ultimately made the decision to have the game set there, as they also considered the country to be a possible setting for future Forza Horizon games.[22][25] Mike Brown, a game designer at Playground Games, thought that the team made the correct decision to select Australia as the setting, describing the country's diverse scenery as "perfect".[25]

To help create a convincing gameplay world, a team was sent to Australia to take reference photos to aid in the game design. These photos consisted of plants, rocks, and road details, among others.[25][26] A significant amount of work was put into simulating landmarks of the country, such as the Twelve Apostles.[25] Minor details were also implemented into the game, like the colours of Australian phone boxes and garbage bins, as well as including native wildlife.[25][27] Playground Games stated that they explored and

represented every ecologically distinct part of the country in Forza Horizon 3;[28] the gameplay world consists of six distinct regions.[25] However, the world is somewhat geographically inaccurate, with locations in real life existing in different geographic areas in the game.[29] According to Brown, the explanation for this inconsistency was to create a better gameplay experience for the player.[25]

Ralph Fulton explained that Playground Games desired to help celebrate Australian car culture and familiarize the culture to people in other parts of the world, thus multiple Australian car models were incorporated into the game. He added, "[Australia's] culture of Ford vs Holden, and V8s and Utes isn’t immediately familiar to everybody north of the equator, but we did feel it was really interesting and colourful and would add to the game."[22]High-dynamic-range (HDR) played a key role in the visuals of Forza Horizon 3. Originally, there was not any

thought of incorporating HDR into the game during development, but due to the development team discovering the HDR output of the Xbox One S, it was decided to start programming the feature. ForzaTech was found to be a good match for HDR, as the light rendering of the game engine was adequately set up the incorporate the brightness gamut of HDR. Multiple televisions were then bought for investigation of the feature. The development team later discovered that the televisions displayed HDR variously, which added more difficulty to the process of adding the feature to the game.[22]

Over the course of development, the team talked about and tested new technology prototypes for several months to help enhance the visuals for the game. Among these prototypes was an HDR sky system.[22] As an idea, the team thought of pointing a high-resolution camera at the sky for hours as a time-lapse. A test was then conducted in Leamington Spa, England. Lighting artist Jamie Wood admitted that during the test, there was more variety in shooting a camera at a sky than the sky design system that was used in Forza Horizon 2. Three teams of two were then sent to Braidwood, New South Wales to capture Australia's more distinguishing skies, clouds, and weather patterns. For a few months, the teams performed the shooting process using HDR cameras. The cameras took thousands of photos with frame interpolation over 24 hour periods, alongside the lenses and light sensors needing to be cleaned regularly. Videos of the sky were also taken, with the footage being about 30 days long overall.[30]The shooting process took place through various weather conditions and times of day to resemble a "dynamic weather system" in the game. This further meant that camera exposures and filters had to be changed frequently to adjust to each time of day. The footage of the sky was then imported into the game.[26] Because of the sky footage, days were longer in Forza Horizon 3 than its predecessor, and clouds also correlate with weather systems in-game.[30]

The lighting effects in Forza Horizon 3 are calculated with real-time computing, which helps simulate a realistic sun in the game. Shadows are generated based on how light is distributed and occluded depending on the locations of surrounding objects and substances. Real-time computing is also used in the game's voxel-based global illumination system to calculate the bouncing of light. The sky, other sources of light, and occlusion data is used to determine surfaces light bounces onto. This helps light accurately blend into areas that have varying degrees of brightness.[30]

Playground Games wanted the beach to be an important racing area in the game, therefore much effort was put into allowing the sea to realistically interact with the beach to make the location look lifelike. To help assist in developing the sea, Playground Games contacted game developer Rare, who was working on Sea of Thieves at the time. As both developers were working on creating the sea in their games, they decided to share computer code, which both developers improved on.[30]

Car models were mainly designed with CAD data exchange between the developers and the car manufacturer. However, for cars that didn't support CAD data exchange, especially rarer and older cars, designers had to track them down for modelling details, sometimes taking upwards of weeks to locate some of them.[22][30] As with the Lamborghini Centenario, the cover car of the game, a photographer was sent to Italy to take photos and measurements of the car. Since the Centenario was made of hundreds of different types of materials, Playground Games desired to simulate the car at the "sub-pixel level". Using data from the images and measurements, a mesh of the car was modelled with 3D Studio Max, while designers had to figure out where materials needed to be simulated in the mesh.[30]

Ralph Fulton explained that "humans form their first impressions incredibly quickly", elaborating that the first few minutes of playing a video game can drastically change how a player thinks of it. Playground Games later conducting a study of first impressions before developing Forza Horizon 3. Two groups of test subjects both played the same Forza game for the same amount of time, except one group played in a sports car and the other played in a regular car. When asked about their experiences playing the game, the group that played in the sports car rated the game generally better. As a result, Playground Games spent a large part of their development cycle (about eighteen months) developing and curating the first few scenes of the game. In February of 2015, it was decided that the first few scenes would be split between the opening drive and the first of the game's events, with the decided route for the opening drive being finalized a month later. By June of 2015, the route was being tested and concept art was drawn for the scenery that the player would see during the opening drive, although some concepts had to be adjusted or removed, such as the rainforest being made less dense. Problems also emerged with the car that the player would be driving in during the opening sequence, the Centenario. The Centenario resulted in being too fast for the player to observe the scenery as intended, requiring changes in the route and terrain. As the opening drive also went off-road, a cutscene had to be instituted to switch the Centenario to a buggy to accompany the harsher terrain. Additionally, the first event after the opening drive had to be pushed back for further improvement, prompting modifications to be made to the opponent vehicle.[24]

During the development process of the four-player cooperative campaign, the goal was to enable all players to play with "as little friction as possible", with the development team then generating a list of goals for an organized campaign. After assessing the campaign layout, the team created a list of problems that could negatively influence the gameplay and came to the conclusion that there four major issues that could affect gameplay the most. With each issue, the team brainstormed a list of possible solutions, picking the solution that produced the least conflict between players. The first issue, where players could be hours apart in campaign progress, made a screen appear that informs the player of how many fans they earned, and the festivals they can upgrade or open whenever they leave a cooperative session. If players also completed races in a cooperative session that have not yet been unlocked in their single-player session, the race will appear as "completed" on the user interface in single-player. The second issue was that races could have specific requirements for cars based on the restrictions the session leader has set, players with fewer cars may not reach those specifications. The solution was considered more straightforward, which introduced a rental feature that allowed players to borrow the session leader's car during a race. For the third issue, where players with less skill may finish races in lower positions, every race was converted into a team race between the players and the AI opponents. A point system was then added for every opponent beaten. This created a structure that let inexperienced players to contribute to the campaign even if they beat only one opponent. Although the fourth issue wasn't part of the team's original goals, it did come up often during testing phases, which was that the leader of the session had to guide other players through the game, even if there was not any sort of communication between players. To resolve the problem, a feature was implemented that notified the session leader's actions to all other players whenever the leader did something, such as starting an event.[6]

Release

Forza Horizon 3 was announced on 13 June 2016 during Microsoft's E3 press conference, where Ralph Fulton displayed a gameplay demo during the briefing. The game was released on 27 September 2016.[31] Players were able to purchase three different editions of the game: the Standard, Deluxe, or Ultimate editions. The Deluxe and Ultimate editions gave players several downloadable content car packs and other exclusive content, while players that pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition were also able to earn early access to the game on 23 September.[32] Forza Horizon 3 supports cross-platform play and is part of the Xbox Play Anywhereprogram, allowing the game to be playable both on Xbox and Windows if purchased digitally.[31][33]

Initially after the game was released, there were various in-game performance problems that occurred concerning the game's compatibility with Windows. An issue also arose involving the game's wheelspin feature, an award system that offers the chance for players to earn a new car or a certain amount of in-game currency, which may sometimes give players the maximum amount of currency that could be acquired in the game. These issues were later addressed and promptly fixed by Playground Games.[19][34] Some players had also claimed that they were falsely banned after Playground Games issued bans to players using hacking clients. A Microsoft spokesperson later stated that players who felt that they were falsely punished can email them for investigation and removal of the bans.[35] In January of 2017, an update had the potential to corrupt the game for Windows users. The corrupted update was later removed by Playground Games.[36]

In January of 2018, Forza Horizon 3 was ported to the Xbox One X, enabling the graphics of the game to be changed on the console, including adding 4K resolution, higher polygon models, increasing sample quality, and enhancing other graphical features.[37] The game made use of Groove Music to play custom soundtracks, however, the ability to stream music to the game was stopped on 31 March 2019, after Groove Music was discontinued, limiting players to the in-game soundtrack as with the other Forza Horizon games.

Several downloadable content (DLC) car packs were released periodically. While most packs featured a small collection of cars, some packs had themes, such as being type specific or manufacturer specific. Examples include the "Motorsport All-Stars Pack", which includes several racing cars,[40][41] and the "Porsche Car Pack", consisting of cars made by vehicle manufacturer Porsche.[42] In addition, the "Hoonigan Car Pack" includes in-game versions of cars that were used by the Hoonigan Racing Division.[43]

On 13 December 2016, the expansion pack Blizzard Mountain was released.[44] The pack added a new location to the game, characterized by a mountainous landscape and having harsh, snowy weather conditions.[45] The severe weather conditions added a challenging feature to driving, as aspects like icy roads and whiteout affected the ability of the player to control the vehicle.[46][47] Instead of accumulating fans, as is synonymous in the Australian location, players had the goal of collecting stars instead. Similar to earning fans, acquiring certain amounts of stars unlocks more events around the region.[45][46] Additionally, three racing game modes were added to the DLC, and players received a rally/off-road car pack that is able to be customisable with snow tires with the purchase of Blizzard Mountain.[48]

On 9 May 2017, in collaboration with Mattel's Hot Wheels, Playground Games released a second expansion pack titled Forza Horizon 3: Hot Wheels. Like Blizzard Mountain, the pack added a new area to the game, portrayed as an archipelago connected by real-world scale Hot Wheels stunt track pieces instead of regular roads. The game's track acts similarly to an actual Hot Wheels course, illustrated by different kinds of stunt sections, such as vertical loops and half-pipes.[49] Races can be customised with the Horizon Blueprint feature, where individual pieces of track are able to be swapped with other pieces.[50] Continuing from Blizzard Mountain, stars have to be earned in races to unlock more events,[51] and players were given a car pack with the purchase of the expansion, of which some of the vehicles are life-scale Hot Wheels cars.[52]

There have been two crossovers between Forza Horizon 3 and other video game franchises. During the game's release, players were able to obtain Halo's fictitious Warthog if they played either Halo 5 or The Master Chief Collection on the Xbox One. Players may also win the car by completing challenges in the game.[53] On 1 August 2017, Forza Horizon 3 players received the Quartz Regalia from Final Fantasy XV through the in-game message system, while Final Fantasy XV players received an Xbox Livemessage with a code to redeem the car. The DLC was free for those who've played Forza Horizon 3 on Windows or either game on Xbox prior to that date.[54] It took about 1,500 hours to program the Regalia into the game, since there was no real-world data that the game designers could take reference from.[55]

Delisting

Playground Games announced on August 11th, 2020 that Forza Horizon 3 and all of its DLC would be delisted on September 27th, 2020. As with previous installments in the series, Forza Horizon 3 was offered at a discount until the 27th at which time it was removed from sale here's the announcement follows:

Forza Horizon 3 will reach 'end of life' status on September 27, 2020. That means that the game and its associated DLC will no longer be available for purchase after that date.

After September 27, 2020, players who own Forza Horizon 3 can find owned content in their library to download and play the game and its associated content as normal.

On Twitter, the team confirmed that online features and multiplayer would continue to function after the deadline and that anyone who previously purchased the game would still be able to re-download and play it. Similar to previous Forza titles, the game’s delisting was most likely caused by expired licensing of the automobile manufacturers, brands, and music featured in the game.

Ascend: Hand of Kul was a unique Action RPG originally launched on Xbox 360 back in 2013 and then on Steam in 2014. Set in a world of gods and giants, the game’s scale is what initially stood out but its gameplay also offered a mix of single and multiplayer elements with player invasions and an overarching metagame. Microsoft published the original release and provided its online infrastructure but not even a year later they announced that support for the game was ending. Signal Studios brought the game to Steam themselves earlier that year but it too only lasted a short time, shutting down in June of 2016.

While fans have found ways to continue playing the game in the years since, an official re-release is now on its way from Outer Heaven Studios and Signal Studios. The group announced on Twitter on September 2nd that a “re-release” of Hand of Kul was in the works and would be titled Ascend: Reborn.

@outer_heaven_studios is excited to announce that we are partnering with @signalstudiosgames to re-release Ascend: Hand of Kul as “Ascend: Reborn”. Follow us on social media to stay up to date with our progress and to learn more about this beloved game.
